Exploitation of new Interregional DOC Prosecco

"The protocol that we
signed today is a milestone for the development of a production of
excellence which is the Prosecco, which is perhaps the maximum
crystallization identity, history and even the geography of all the
areas concerned. With this agreement,
which will last three years, meet the demands made by producers and
conclude a path already started last year with the approval of DOC
Prosecco wines for contributing to the promotion of wine industry in
Trieste, in particular Karst .
Said the Minister of
Agriculture and Forestry Luca Zaia, announcing the signing today at the
Vinitaly, the Memorandum of Understanding for the development of new DOC
Interregional 'Prosecco' between MIPAAF, the Autonomous Region Friuli
Venezia Giulia , farmers' organizations
(Farmers Association - Kmečka zveza, Federation Coldiretti Friuli
Venezia Giulia, Friuli Venezia Giulia Confagricoltura, Italian Farmers
Confederation) and the Consorzio Tutela Vini Collio Carso.
"Through this agreement -
said Zaia - is a fundamental part of aid measures, with specific
commitments for all signatories: the restructuring of the agricultural
part of the Trieste Karst ridge, with its remediation, the attainment of
a specific development project Karst. Will also be revised and
simplified the constraints of environmental, territorial and urban areas
on the SCI and SPA insistent in the area and those subject to other
constraints, particularly in the hydro. Will be made several
promotions for the new DOC and a 'Centre for the Promotion of Prosecco
DOC' in the locality of Trieste. Will be also developed a
project to promote Vitoska wines, Malvasia and Teran Glera. "
"Prosecco - said Zaia -
is one of the best cards of Made in Italy" and competes with the best
sparkling wines on the international strategic places, from New York to
Hong Kong. So we want to ensure that
all producers and territories involved in the chain have the best tools
to maintain and enhance this production, consolidating their presence
on domestic and foreign markets. Karst ridges are written
in a piece of history and identity of our agriculture, with it, the
communities that inhabit these places. And it is this identity,
told by a product symbol as Prosecco, we intend to defend and enhance. I am sure the entire area
DOC Prosecco have the success it deserves and which already is
gathering a bit 'everywhere, especially with the DOCG Prosecco di
Valdobbiadene, wine which symbolically uncorked the bottle now number
one. "
